Jesse De La Cruz

Jesse De La Cruz was enrolled in his first gymnastics class at the age of three and was competitive in the sport until he was a late teenager in high school. His whole life he loved going to circuses and was so fascinated with what happened under the big top that he always dreamed of running away with one some day. After leaving competitive gymnastics he decided to train in circus arts. Applying the upper body strength and body awareness of a gymnast he excelled in both aerial and acrobatic circus arts.

After working for several cirque style companies he sought for further training and moved up North to San Francisco where he attended Circus School at the Circus Center. While he was up there for a year he supplemented his workouts by also training gymnastics at UC Berkeley, and Platform and Springboard diving at Stanford University. After leaving San Francisco he moved even further North to Seattle, WA in an attempt to join an international competitive acrobatics gymnastics team as a flyer. After training for several months the program was not successful and folded.

Cold and homesick he moved back home to beautiful Southern California and began working at a small hand-full of theme parks. He’s currently employed at Disney’s California Adventure doing High Bar and Swing ding (swinging Chinese pole) in Disney’s Pixar Play Parade. Aerial Net, and Aerial Hoop are his favorite circus apparatuses.

While there she trained and danced with The Joffery Ballet, Ballet Hispanico and numerous other freelance companies and choreographers.

Feeling satisfied in her professional career after 7 years, she took a hiatus from the stage and became a mother to a daughter, then a son. In 1998 she moved to Northern California where she started her practice of Vinyasa Yoga and eventually became a certified instructor. Upon returning to San Diego in 2002 she began teaching yoga full time. Wanting to reignite her love for dance, Laura began studying Samba and Belly Dance. She returned to the stage in 2007, appearing with Danyavaad and The Shimmy Sisters in their Middle Eastern themed theatrical shows. In January 2011 Laura ventured into aerial silks and felt an immediate, natural inclination with this new apparatus. Her skill level grew quickly and Laura now thrills audiences with her daring display of strength, agility, grace and passion while suspended high above the ground. Often described as “ballet in the air” Laura feels aerial arts is where she truly excels and has found the perfect form of expression.

Monica Bellner

monicaMonica Bellner's passion for yoga stemmed from her initial exposure to the practice while she was in the midst of a career in operatic performance.  Fueled by a need to control and lengthen her breath capacity to successfully negotiate difficult vocal lines amidst the unpredictability of live theater, yoga's deep traditions were a perfect and ample solution to a complex problem.

Monica earned her teaching certifications through CorePower Yoga, where she completed dual certification courses in Vinyasa and Hot sequences.  She later obtained additional teaching certifications through courses in Unnata Aerial Yoga, and has completed more advanced training to sequence and teach advanced Vinyasa yoga, Yin-Yoga (restorative) techniques, meditation as well as in-depth anatomy instruction.

Monica communicates to her students how to use the practices within classical yoga to enrich every aspect of modern living.  She seeks to help students develop habits supporting objective observation of events and offer ways to experiment with opening the boundaries of current restrictions, thereby finding new paths to experience and enjoy each moment fully.

Wayne Labat

Wayne Labat discovered that anyone could run away and join the circus when he found Trapeze High in Econdido. It was love at first flight, and he was addicted. He met Jessica Flores of AR through flying trapeze and began training with Aerial Revolution and learning fabric and static trapeze. As his job requirements have moved him around, Wayne has trained with various instructors all over the country and is a regular at the annual Aerial Dance Festival. While focusing mainly on fabric and partner aerial, he loves learning new skills, sharing them with others, exploring all areas of physical expression and movement.

Wayne believes that learning aerial skills allows us to transcend gravity and, more importantly, our own personal boundaries and perceived limitations. In his classes at Studio Revolution Wayne enjoys allowing people the opportunity to challenge themselves, learn new skills and move beyond what they think they are capable of in a safe and supportive environment.
